I love the font “just do it” on this article and the title. I am a firm believer in not just doing, but doing it and it works. There is not a single thing I do not do in life that I would not do again if I had the chance.
Why would you do what you did to yourself in this article? You were in a great deal of pain and wanted your problems to go away. I hope you think about it now so you can start fixing that.
We all have our little moments of self-flagellation as we deal with the reality of our lives. I’m not saying it’s easy, but I’m sure it can be a good thing. The only time I had any problem with my self-flagellation was when I was in a bad mood. And that is also a time when I need to do something about it. There is no better time than now to start fixing your problems.
It’s not always easy, but it can definitely be a good thing. As a parent, you’ve probably thought about your kids a lot more than I have. There’s no secret reason you are thinking about your kids so much. They are probably the most important things in your life and a part of your soul. So if you have that little bit of self-flagellation, it is a good thing.
I think its a lot easier when you dont have to think about it because you can just do it. Its like when you do a good deed. It is a good thing.
I think we have been conditioned by society that we don’t have to think about our own actions. Our self-consciousness lets us down. We are so self-absorbed that we forget we are actually aware of every one of our actions. Like when you go to a restaurant, you have to think about what you ate and the waiter is telling you all about your food, but you are also thinking about the wait staff, the table, the other diners and the food.
I know, I know. It’s not your perfect world. But we have been indoctrinated into a world so narrow that our conscious thoughts are drowned out. When we stop and think about our decision, we usually come up with an “I don’t want to do that,” “I don’t have the courage.” If we stop and think about our actions, we tend to think that we should do something different than what we are told to do.
I’m not saying that we should be perfect in all areas of our lives, but we should be more aware of our actions and intentions. Our actions, not just our words, but our behaviors and thoughts matter.
There are many ways to do this. My first was to ask an experienced user “What do I want to do differently next time?” and he would reply “I want to do some things differently today.
