I’ve been a fan of renderstate since it was released back in January. It’s an invaluable tool for creating a very realistic rendering of a scene. As it turns out, in the process of building the engine, you need to have a lot of time to learn the basics of the art and how they work, so I wouldn’t recommend building anything much more complex than a bunch of little parts, but that’s what I would recommend you build it up.

The other thing I would recommend building up is the use of canvas to display the elements of a game. If youve done anything clever with your game, then you can use canvas. If youve got the right background, then you can use it.

This is exactly what I would recommend doing. The reason is that you dont really have to worry about getting the best performances out of the engine, you can just rely on the performance to allow your game to be playable. When you have an engine that works, it doesnt really matter whether the game has a good performance or not, it just works. The only advantage of using canvas is that your game will be faster to load.
