The game is almost entirely tied to a storyline. The main characters are each of the original inhabitants of a given island, a group of travelers who travel through space in order to travel to another world. The main story is about the journey of a group of travelers to another world. The game also tells each of the characters about their journey, how they arrived at the island, their feelings about their journey, and how this journey affected their own connection to the world they’re on.
As the game is about the journey, the map is actually a map of the entire universe. You can interact with the world through various ways: flying, walking, swimming, flying again, teleporting, and of course jumping. The game itself is also about the journey, but it’s not just about the journey.
Now that I think about it, in deathloop you can access a portal, which allows you to travel between dimensions. It goes a little bit beyond being able to move between different worlds, though. It allows you to fly back and forth between different dimensions.
